    No price for the Aurum?
And where can you get it?
  • the-bink - Thursday, July 21, 2011 - link

In Holland I payed 90 euro incl. shipping, for the 700 watt version without the modular cables (FSP Aurum 700). I have been very happy with mine (Computer: 5850*2, 10HD's, Q9550@3.6GHz, etc., etc.).

    Also see the review at:

    UMM???

FSP's products are almost allways in the "You-get-what-you-pay-for" class. This goes for the high-end as well as low end parts.

Please consider that FSP has a huge range and DOES produce low-end (even if not "trash"-end) parts.

To my experience, most of the time, they are either cheapest or on par with competition at a given price point. Though nobody does miracles for peanuts in the PSU business ...

    $155 is too expensive.
I picked a Seasonic X-760 at Microcenter one months ago for $149.

It's nitpicking, but I'm disliking the use of the by the way abbrevation.

Is a full review upcomming? I'm having a bit hard time getting any solid information except for the numbers from this 'rushed' article.

But on the other hand, I never say no to more content from Anandtech, it was worth the time reading it :).

Can we finally compile all these PSU reviews into say the "Anandtech PSU Charts" so we can really compare the ones you review?

You can get a seasonic x750 gold on newegg right now for 166 shipped. It's a shame there are so few 100% modular psus with quality performance and conservative designs.

What use would a 100% modular PSU be? Everyone's going to use at least the 24 pin and CPU connectors, no reason to add cost making those detachable.

The flat modular cables look pretty nice!
  • Martin Kaffei - Saturday, July 23, 2011 - link

Well, I like them more than the ones from Corsair since they have no real sleeving like FSP. Therefore Corsair uses a better design.

I've owned a couple of FSP power supplies. I've always thought of them as makers of high-quality but low-polish PSUs... stable voltages and no problem delivering their rated output, but noisy and inefficient, with unsleeved cables. Nice to see they're addressing those shortcomings.

As a side note- Isn't it interesting how many companies are headquartered in Taiwan, enemy of China, with factories on the mainland?
  • Martin Kaffei - Monday, July 25, 2011 - link

Taiwan is not an enemy, it's more like another interpretation of China (or what it could be). In addition Taiwan is just semi-independent. No reason for China to see their activities as provocations at the moment.
