Don't be too quick to presume that someone with enough disposable income to drop $3999 on a laptop automatically qualifies as less mentally competent than someone who can't do so. In fact, I'd argue that if you're smart enough to play the game of life that well, you're probably ahead of the majority of the teeming masses of lower wage earning sorts out there.
I just priced an HP Omen laptop with the exact same specs as the Full HD model at $1308. The only difference was all-red KB backlight instead of multi-color.. and the touchpad. Is that worth an extra $900?
I 'settled' for a 1050ti omen 17.3 FHD 94% srgb, i7 7700 12GB 128ssd and 1tb hdd and paid $949. I could get 2 of those for the same cost as this razor.
They know everyone thinks they are seriously overpriced, right?
I'm way too frugal to spend this much on a laptop. It's nice that they are bringing the price down, but it's still out of my price range. Hopefully those with the funds can enjoy it.
They got the weight right this time, but it's hardly a premium notebook with that screen. I wish Razer would offer this lighter model with the screen and keyboard from the more expensive option. Hopefully someone, anyone, makes a premium 17-incher similar to a Surface Laptop or MacBook Pro; a 16:10 aspect ration would be welcome; or even a 3:2 17" screen - that would have the height, and therefore the practical, usable space, of a 19.3" 16:9 monitor, in a 3 kg enclosure. Why is that not being made?!
$4000 and you still get trash Killer WiFi and Ethernet. Hard pass. I can't even imagine what kinds of incentives Killer must give laptop manufacturers to ruin their laptops with these cancer products. I bought a Dell XPS 15 9560 a few weeks ago and I swapped out the Killer WiFi for an Intel 8265 before I even booted it up for the first time. I can't even give that Killer WiFi card away on eBay.
Yes it's expensive, but it is cheaper than the Asus Zephyrus which only has a 15" screen and major thermal thottling, plastic chassis, terrible battery.

Won't give you a portable GTX 1080 though. I do wonder how many of these they sell, that's very expensive.Cellar Door - Thursday, August 31, 2017 - link
There are enough rich kids out there with parents that won't bat an eye buying this. Otherwise they would not be making them.versesuvius - Thursday, August 31, 2017 - link
